Sehr schöne Unterkunft in perfekter Lage.

Punta Licosa is situated in a lovely area with a wonderful view overlooking the sea. It's surrounded by gardens with fresh produce available, where you can sit and eat. We were however rather bitten by mosquitoes on our first afternoon in the garden!
Although earlier reviews mentioned problems finding the property after a few emails back and forth with the owner she gave us good directions so that in the end it was quite easy to find. She and her father were very friendly and helpful while we were there. The apartment had a rustic feel, with modern touches like air conditioning and wifi which were greatly appreciated! The kitchen was tiny with minimal facilities but adequate. We had fun trying to connect electrical appliances with various adaptors! The kitchen and sitting room area were quite dark with the bedroom being the light relaxing room with the lovely view.
The nearest village/small town is S. Agata, a 20 minute hilly walk away, with a small supermarket and some good restaurants. The nearest beach, Marina del Cantone, is a 20 minute drive away, with good facilities for spending the day there, and the boat trip to Capri from there was excellent. We found driving in the area quite daunting with the narrow roads and difficulty finding places to park (tickets for car parks and buses have to be bought in local shops). We recommend using public transport - the bus and train to Pompeii worked well, and was very cheap.
If you stand on the terrace or throw wide the floor to ceiling windows and gaze out across the olive groves, you'll see what this place is about. It's a beautiful location, a great apartment in a special part of Italy. I imagined being Steinbeck gazing out to sea from the desk, escaping from the bustle of nearby Positano to plan his next work but you'll have your own dream.
The practicalities; Two great bedrooms, a bathroom apiece and a kitchen diner, it's supremely comfortable for four and another two could join if they weren't jealous of the bedrooms. The terrace is cool with plenty of shade and room to sunbathe. The pool is a few minutes walk and is modest; great for kids under 10. There's a restaurant 100m away. Sorrento is 7 km downhill and the Amalfi coast road a similar distance. Buses run often, the stop is a short walk away.
It's set in a hilly area in beautiful farmland and it's 5 min walk to the village for essentials including some great produce, 10-15 min walk to Sant'Agata for anything else you need including a great range of places to eat, from pizzerias to Michelin starred. A car is useful because this place is set off the main road, but the scrapes all over every local car should warn you the roads are narrow and windy and the drivers swift so get good insurance and practice reversing.
The warm welcome from Anna (and everyone else) was unparalleled and she made sure our stay was superb by giving us the local tips and getting us all the information we needed.
This is a special place & I'd recommend it to anyone. It's a hilly area and there are steps up to the apartment so it's not easy if you're disabled, but go anyway and get your family to lift you up the steps. What are familty for, after all.
Recommendations;
walk the steep path down to the beach below. It's beautiful and secluded; no road, no cafe so no hordes. Just follow signs to Crapolla (yes really, our 7 year old loved that). Don't forget to take water and anything you'll need, as it's 400m down and you won't want to pop back up for the sun cream.
if you like nature take a while one evening to watch the geckos under the light on the terrace catching any moths foolish enough to land and occasionally tussling with each other
If you don't like midges take bug repellent and plug in zappers. It was a damp summer so plenty of biters around in the greenery of the farm
Have a meal in the restaurant; Fattoria Terranova, you won't feel short changed
Enjoy the rest of the area. It's sublime
The Antico Casale Ruoppo (Il Vigneto) is a nice studio with a terrace under the vineyard with a nearby shared swimming pool. Anne Pia is very helpfull, she even conspired with me to arrange a surprise dinner for my girlfriends birthday.
There are lots of little places to visit and Pompeii and Vesuvius are within one hour drive. However the busy narrow roads upon the mountain are quite a challenge if you are not used to it.
All in all it was a nice stay and would recommend it to anyone!
I'm so glad my two girlfriends and I decided to take a boat tour from Sorrento to Capri with Capitanoago tours. It seriously was one of the best days of my life! The ambiance, food, service, and nine others on board were amazing! I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in touring Capri. It's the way to go!
